Play winter lacrosse with a LA team!
No IHSA State Series for 2012

The IHSA Board heard a report from Executive Director Marty Hickman on the status of a State Series in Boys and Girls Lacrosse for the spring of 2012. Per the parameters set forth by the Board, there were not enough teams to begin a State Series this year. At the February 1 entry deadline, 49 boys teams and 34 girls teams had entered to participate in the State Series this spring, short of the 65 boys teams and 40 girls teams which are required.

The IHSA will wait until next year to see if more schools will enter to participate in the state series. Even though there are enough schools, over 70 boys programs and over 40 girls programs, several schools are not able to change from being a school activity to a fully sponsored varsity program, mostly because of funding.

With an increase in youth lacrosse programs and more high school programs getting more support from their athletic departments, it is hopeful that lacrosse will have an IHSA state series soon.
